ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The professional boxing event scheduled for Aug. 18 at ESL Ballpark in Rochester has been cancelled.
One of the organizers, Michael Tandoi, posted the message on Facebook. Tandoi thanked supporters and asked the public to help spread the word.

The boxing event, called “Defying the Odds,” was originally scheduled for Tuesday, July 14. Red Wings General Manager Dan Mason told us the rescheduling stemmed from issues solidifying one of the promoter’s opponents.
News10NBC spoke with the promoters and expects more information to be released on Monday. Once we learn more, this story will be updated.
April’s boxing event
The cancellation follows months of anticipation after a previous, separate boxing event in April left fighters unpaid and promoters in debt.

Again, the boxing event at ESL Ballpark is not affiliated with April’s event at Blue Cross Arena.
