HBO has officially renewed House of the Dragon for a season 4, which will bring the Targaryen civil war adapted from George RR Martin's Fire and Blood to a close.

Showrunner Condal has confirmed that he's finished the scripts for season 4.
He also previously opened up to Radio Times about the pressures of ending the series after the less-than-positive reaction to the final instalment of Game of Thrones.
He admitted he was aware that "sticking the landing is actually the most difficult thing" when it comes to a beloved TV series.
"Because everybody by that point, many years on down the road, are going to have their own idea of where the show should and/or what it should be," he explained.
"And you can't satisfy all of those very specific ideas. You can't give them what they want. You have to give them the thing that they need.
"And that's our challenge as adapters, and, you know, I'm willing to take it on - but yes, it is... that lurks in the back of my mind, for sure."

Speaking at a press conference, Condal teased: "As crazy and big as season 3 was, I think season 4 is going to be even bigger.
"It's a great privilege to be able to tell a story and to be able to write the ending, and to control when and where that happens. This is not a given in making television, so we're very excited to get back in.
"And we have new characters and new dragons and new locations all to come, that I think are going to make it a very worthy final season."
