A person has died and another was forced to jump out of a second-story window after a house fire in suburban Lake Forest Sunday morning.
According to Lake Forest fire officials, the fire broke out in a two-story home in the 1200 block of Griffith Road just after midnight Sunday.
One occupant of the home was able to jump to safety from a second-story window. That person was taken to an area hospital for treatment, and their condition has since stabilized, according to authorities.
A second unidentified person was found unresponsive inside the home, and was pronounced dead at the scene, fire officials said.
Several nearby fire departments assisted in extinguishing the blaze, and the Illinois State Fire Marshal is aiding in the investigation into the cause of the fire.
