IRONDEQUOIT, N.Y. — A 24-year-old woman was cut in the head with a knife during a domestic argument at a home on Case Terracein Irondequoit tonight.
The Irondequoit Police Department said officers responded to a call on Case Terrace around 7:50 p.m. for a report of a woman stabbed. As they arrived, they saw a man run out the front door and chased him on foot.
Officers and K9 Ranger caught up to the man on Deerfield Drive. He was taken into custody after a brief struggle.
The woman appeared to suffer a cut to the back of her head, which was reportedly caused by a knife swung by the man. She was taken to the hospital for treatment.
During the struggle, the man received a small puncture wound from K9 Ranger. One officer also suffered a puncture wound to his ankle.
Nelson Gomez III, 23, was taken to the hospital for treatment. He is facing second-degree assault charges for cutting with the knife, fourth-degree criminal mischief charges for damaging the victim’s property and resisting arrest charges for fighting with officers.
According to IPD Chief Scott Peters, the officer also received treatment at the hospital and is not expected to miss any work.
