A friend of Lindsay Clancy took the witness stand during this week's court proceedings, revealing new details about the conversations that she had with Clancy just days before a tragedy unfolded.
On Aug. 6, Amy Bevins was asked about the text messages she exchanged with Clancy before the Massachusetts mother killed her three children in 2023. The messages provide a heartbreaking glimpse into Clancy’s struggles and the questions that remain.
Bevins told the jury that she received a message from Clancy—whom she's been friends with since childhood—in which Clancy expressed having "dark thoughts."

"She had shared that she had been taking a medication that caused her to have some dark thoughts, but that she was going to, or had been weaning, like tapering off that medication," Bevins said. "I remember it being something where there was conveying of hope, and that it was going to be a, you know—we were moving in a positive direction."
Clancy has admitted to killing her three young children—Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and Callan, 8 months—using exercise bands to strangle each child in the basement of their home in Duxbury. She also slit her wrists and her throat before leaping out of her bedroom window in an apparent suicide attempt that left her paralyzed from the waist down.
The prosecution is trying to prove that Clancy was of sound mind when she murdered her children while the defense argues that she was suffering from postpartum psychosis that was made worse by a variety of medications that she'd been prescribed.
