2026 European Swimming Championships

With the 2026 European Swimming Championships kicking off Monday, August 10th, the men’s and women’s entries have finally been published on the LEN website.

Able to filtered by nation, name or event, the lists provide insight into any changes from expected swimmer lineups and we’re combing through to identify anything popping up in the ‘surprises’ category.

For instance, Olympic multi-medalist Duncan Scott of Great Britain does not have the men’s 200m butterfly listed among his events, despite having won the race at this year’s Aquatics GB Championships.

In London this past April, Scott produced a swift performance of 1:54.97 to take the British title in the 2fly. He raced the event at the Commonwealth Games just last month where the 29-year-old Scotsman placed 4th overall (1:55.85).

This means Ed Mildred will be the sole British swimmer entered in the 200m fly in Paris next week.

Another item of note is the fact that Croatia’s national record holder Franko Grgic is indeed entered in the meet.

The 23-year-old appears to be taking on the men’s 200m/400m/800m free individual events, in addition to the 4x200m free relay.

He raced at the Mare Nostrum Monaco stop among his competitions this season and owns season-bests of 1:50.91 in the 200m free, 3:53.52 in the 400m free and 8:11.05 in the 800m free.

Additionally, French Olympic superstar Leon Marchand is entered in the individual events of the 200m fly, 200m/400m IM and 400m free, bypassing the 200m breast. That wasn’t entirely unexpected as the champion is continuing to recover from his hip adductor injury.

On the women’s front, new mom Sarah Sjostrom of Sweden is keeping to the 50m fly and 50m free events, while Great Britain’s world champion Freya Colbert is set to take on the 200m/400m free in addition to six relays.
