Evanston officials urged several residents to shelter in place amid a “high pressure gas line break” in part of north Chicago suburb.
The Evanston Fire Department said the break happened Friday morning in front of 2145 Ridge Ave.
“The Evanston Fire Department and Nicor Gas are on scene to manage the situation,” the city said in an alert to residents. “No evacuations are necessary at this time; however, community members in the area should shelter in place.”
Authorities asked residents to avoid the area from Noyes Street and Simpson Avenue.
