Bands on the Bricks (Friday)
The Bands on the Bricks concert series at the Rochester Public Market continues on Friday with a performance from Appetite for Voltage, a tribute band to AC/DC and Guns N’ Roses.
The free concert series at the market has been running for over 25 years. It runs from 6 to 9 p.m. The band What’s the Rush will open the show. Here’s the schedule for the rest of the series:
Wednesday, Aug. 12: Into the Now (Music from the Grateful Dead, The Stones, The Doors, and more) Friday, Aug 14: Giant Panda Guerilla Dub Squad (World beats and reggae rhythms) with special guests iGNiTE Reggae BandNitro Circus at ESL Ballpark (Friday)
Extreme sport athletes are coming to ESL Ballpark to showcase their skills. The Nitro Circus stunt show tour stops by in Rochester on Friday. There will be freestyle motocross, BMX, skate, scooter, and more.
On the tour, Adam Jones will attempt a record-breaking 75-foot back flip through a 35-foot wall of fire. Australia’s Ryan “R Willy Williams,” who has over 900 million views on YouTube and has more than 100 world-firsts across BMX and scooter, will also perform stunts.
Other athletes include American extreme sports content creator Ryan Bean, WCMX (freestyle wheelchair) trailblazer Aaron “Wheelz” Fotheringham, and brothers Ben and Tom Richards. Gates open at 6 p.m., and the show starts at 7 p.m. You can learn more and get tickets here.
German Festival (Friday and Saturday)
The 121st annual German Festival kicks off on Friday, bringing authentic German food, beer, and music to the Firemen’s Field in Spencerport.
The festival runs from 5 to 11 p.m. on Friday and 2 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday. It will include games, children’s activities, and performances by the Rochester German Dancers and the Germania Singers. Rochester airshow (Saturday and Sunday)
The A.P. Property Services Rochester International Airshow returns on Saturday and Sunday, bringing all kinds of planes to the Frederick Douglass Greater Rochester International Airport for performances.
The U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds will headline the show with formation flying and solo routines. There will also be performances from the U.S. Army Golden Knights, a Jump Jet, and more.
The gates to the airshow will open at 9:30 a.m. and close at 6 p.m. The flying begins at around 10:30 a.m., and the Thunderbirds will be the final performance of the day. You can get tickets and see the full schedule here.
To get to the airshow, people can park at the RIT campus and take a shuttle to the airport. Parking passes cost $25, and you can buy them in advance here. There’s also VIP and reserved parking at 1303 Scottsville Rd. Organizers are reminding people not to park at the airport terminal.

Fairy Godmothers formal wear sale (Saturday)
The Fairy Godmothers of Rochester is hosting its fourth summer formal wear sale on Saturday. The event is taking place from 10 a.m. to noon at Marketplace Mall, inside the old Dick’s Sporting Goods store.
Organizers say people will be able to shop a wide selection of new and gently used women’s formal wear and accessories. Most dresses are $20. All proceeds from the sale will benefit the 2027 prom fair. Prom fairs allow junior and senior high school students to get dressed for prom with the help from a personal shopper.
