Islamists are playing the long game in American politics ...Middle East

TribToday - News

This week, primary voters in Michigan went to the polls to decide which candidate will represent their party in the fight to replace the outgoing Sen. Gary Peters. For Democrats, it will be Abdul El-Sayed.

Unsurprisingly, much of the focus when it comes to El-Sayed rests not on his socialist ideology, or if he’s actually a doctor, or even his recent glow-up, but that he’s an anti-Semite.

Given that his supporters include self-hating Jew Sen. Bernie Sanders, “not an expert on geopolitics” Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and professional Jew-hater Linda Sarsour, it’s hardly surprising that El-Sayed just can’t help blaming the Jews — sorry, “AIPAC” — for quite literally everything that is wrong with the world. In March, El-Sayed even blamed Israel for an Islamic terrorist attack on a Jewish preschool in West Bloomfield, and in July, he even declared that a poll that slightly favored his primary opponent must have been funded by AIPAC.

At this point, if El-Sayed so much as stubs his toe, he probably curses the Jews. Sorry, “AIPAC.”

But again, the problem here is not just that Michigan could actually elect another Islamist to represent them in Congress.

No, the concern lies in what El-Sayed — and so many others of his Islamofascist ilk — seek beyond their own personal rise: the mainstreaming of Islamism.

Whether it’s Rep. Ilhan Omar in Minnesota, El-Sayed or Rep. Tlaib in Michigan or Mayor Zohran Mamdani in New York City, each Islamist — whether or not they win their election — is contributing toward this generational battle to normalize their anti-American, anti-Western and anti-Judeo-Christian platform, forcing what would seem unimaginable just a few years ago into our daily reality, where Hamas-loving mobs marching through New York City screaming for the murder of Jews is just another Tuesday.

    As Ronald Reagan famously said:

“Freedom is a fragile thing, and it’s never more than one generation away from extinction. It is not ours by way of inheritance; it must be fought for and defended constantly by each generation, for it comes only once to a people. And those in world history who have known freedom and then lost it have never known it again.”

Precisely the same thing could be said of the West, not regarding its battle with Soviet communism, but with its not-so-contemporary battle with Islamism.

A battle that, right now, we’re losing.
