70s Rock Legends Announce New Album 51 Years After Breakthrough Hit Dreamboat Annie

More than five decades after Dreamboat Annie introduced Heart to the world, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame band is preparing to release its first new studio album in 10 years.

Speaking with Gold Derby, guitarist Nancy Wilson revealed that the album is essentially complete and called it a return to the band's roots.

"I think it's going to be great," Wilson said. "We wrote a bunch of new songs and recorded down in Nashville with the players that we just played the last tour with. It was like a secondhand thing with each other because we've played so many live shows, so the album was pretty much recorded live."

Wilson said the band plans to deliver the album at the end of August before coordinating its release alongside a world tour, a Heart documentary, and a long-awaited feature film about the band's career.

"I'm really happy," she said. "It really feels like a Heart record."

The announcement comes 51 years after Heart released Dreamboat Annie in Canada in 1975. The album, featuring "Magic Man" and "Crazy on You," became the band's breakthrough release, eventually reaching No. 7 on the Billboard 200 after its U.S. release in 1976 and establishing the Wilson sisters as one of rock's defining acts.

The upcoming record will be Heart's first studio album since 2016's Beautiful Broken. Wilson said the long gap has only made the new music feel more meaningful.

"It's all about these songs," she said. "It's what we were born to do, and do together."

Fans may not have to wait much longer for even more Heart news. Wilson also confirmed the band's long-discussed biopic is back on track, a documentary is in the works, and the group is planning a world tour as it prepares for what she hopes will be "Heart world domination" in 2027 and 2028.
