RIYADH — Saudi Arabia's operated renewable energy capacity increased 88 percent to 12,313 megawatts (MW) by the end of 2025, following the addition of five new solar energy projects during the year, according to the Renewable Energy Statistics 2025 report released by the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT). The total number of operated renewable energy projects reached 15 by year-end. The report attributed the increase in capacity to the operation of five new solar energy projects with a combined capacity of 5,762 MW. Cumulative investment in operated renewable energy projects reached approximately SAR 36.11 billion by the end of 2025. The number of housing units estimated to be supplied with electricity from operated renewable energy projects reached approximately 2.08 million by the end of 2025. Projects that entered the operational phase during the year were estimated to supply approximately 939,000 housing units, representing an 82.31 percent increase compared with 2024.
