Cricket South Africa (CSA) has, on Thursday, August 6, announced changes to the India Women’s National Cricket Team’s scheduled tour of South Africa later this year. CSA has added a three-match T20I series at the end of the India Women’s National Cricket Team’s scheduled tour.
Originally, the India Women’s National Cricket Team and the South Africa Women’s National Cricket Team were set to play a one-off Test and the three-match ODI series, but now they will also play three T20Is. The newly added three T20I matches are very important because both India and the Proteas women are preparing for the first-ever ICC Women's Champions Trophy, which will be played in Sri Lanka in February 2027. These matches will give both teams a chance to test their players before the event.
Following the fresh announcement by Cricket South Africa, India's tour of South Africa will now run from December 9 to December 30 this year. India Women’s upcoming tour of South Africa will begin with a one-off Test match at St George's Park in Gqeberha.
The match will be played from December 9 to December 12 in Gqeberha. After the one-off Test, both teams will play a three-match ODI series, which is part of the ICC Women's Championship. The first ODI will be played on December 16 at Boland Park in Paarl. The second ODI is scheduled for December 19 at the famous Newlands Cricket Ground in Cape Town.
The third and final ODI will take place on December 22 at Mangaung Oval in Bloemfontein
. Then, both teams will shift their focus to the three-match T20I series, starting on December 26 at Willowmoore Park in Benoni. The second and third T20Is will be held at NWC Oval in Potchefstroom on December 29 and December 30, respectively.
CSA reveals reason behind adding T20I series to India's South Africa tour

CSA Chief Executive Officer Pholetsi Moseki stated: “We are delighted to confirm the revised schedule for India’s tour of South Africa, with the addition of the T20 International series over the festive period, ensuring our Proteas Women have the best possible preparation ahead of the inaugural ICC Women’s Champions Trophy in Sri Lanka early next year.”
Moseki further added, “India remains one of the strongest teams in world cricket, and the opportunity to compete against them across all three formats will provide invaluable competition as we continue building towards another major ICC event.”
