Rishad became the first Bangladeshi cricketer to earn an SA20 contract. The leg spinner has been picked by Sunrisers Eastern Cape for the SA 2027 season. However, his participation remains uncertain, as the SA20 is scheduled from January 9 to February 4, which overlaps with the expected BPL window.
The BCB has not yet decided whether Rishad Hossain will receive a NOC to play in the upcoming SA20 season. The decision depends on the schedule of the next Bangladesh Premier League, which is expected to be held between January and February.
According to Cricbuzz, a BCB official said the board will review the situation only after Sunrisers Eastern Cape formally apply for Rishad's NOC following the SA20 auction. The official added that the board will decide after checking whether the SA20 and BPL schedules overlap.
"If the BPL doesn't take place then, there are no problems. If it does (two competitions overlapping), board will have look into it and take a decision."

"Each and every single NOC is treated on an individual basis and just because it happened once doesn't mean it will happen again."

Sunrisers Eastern Cape Sign Bangladesh's first SA20 player
Sunrisers Eastern Cape signed Rishad Hossain as a direct signing to strengthen their spin attack. The three-time SA20 champions also have former Bangladesh head coach Russell Domingo on their coaching staff as batting coach.
The franchise also signed Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh, who will make his SA20 debut alongside Rishad. Notably, the Bangladesh leg-spinner earned the opportunity after an impressive 2024 T20 World Cup, where he finished as his country's leading wicket-taker with 14 wickets.
Rishad Hossain has also impressed in franchise cricket around the world. He claimed 12 wickets for Lahore Qalandars in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) before taking 15 wickets in 11 innings for Hobart Hurricanes in the Big Bash League, finishing as the joint-highest wicket-taking spinner.
