Dylan Cease, who was originally slated to start on Wednesday against the Astros (missing the Cubs by one game), is now set to pitch on Thursday.
John Schneider says Jameson Taillon starts tomorrow, Dylan Cease pushed to Thursday with Jose Soriano debuting for the Blue Jays on Friday at Philadelphia, followed by Max Scherzer and Shane Bieber on Sunday.

He’s going toe-to-toe with Cam Schlittler for the AL Cy Young, an award he finished runner-up for in 2022. The 30-year-old just won the AL Pitcher of the Month in July, having given up just four runs across 36.0 innings of work.
Although the Cubs haven’t announced an official starting pitcher for Thursday’s game against Toronto, it’s lining up to be David Peterson, who last pitched on Saturday against the Yankees. Kevin Gausman has also had his start pushed back by one day, as the recent Cubs acquisition is now slated to start on Friday against the Kansas City Royals.
