Emmerdale airs sad decision for Cain Dingle and fresh heartbreak for Charity in early ITVX release

There's been double Dingle drama in today's Emmerdale.

The first concerned patriarch Cain (Jeff Hordley), who has already had an awful year. He's undergone a radical prostatectomy operation following a cancer diagnosis, and later discovered that it hadn't worked.

There was also the wrongful imprisonment of wife Moira (Natalie J Robb), who was accused of manslaughter and human trafficking, after two bodies were found on their homestead Butler's Farm. This forced them to sell their share of the land to Joe Tate (Ned Porteous), and try and establish a new agricultural venture at Wishing Well Cottage.

Cain then found out that son Kyle Winchester (Huey Quinn) was responsible for a number of fires that had been ignited across the village, and that beloved pooch Monty was suffering with cancer.

For weeks he's been reluctant to give up on Monty, believing that he deserved the same right to survival as he did during his own battle with the disease. However, vets Paddy Dingle (Dominic Brunt) and Rhona Goskirk (Zoe Henry) have repeatedly told him that there's nothing they can do.

In today's episode, Cain was full of emotion as he considered his own fate to be entwined with the dog's. He'd spent the night on the sofa, not wanting to leave Monty alone.

When brother Sam (James Hooten) asked him to consider what might be on the horizon, Cain was insistent that he wasn't going to write him off.

However, later that day, Cain and sister Belle (Eden Taylor-Draper) were saddened to see Monty curled up on their dad Zak's grave. It seemed like a sign that he was ready to pass over to the other side, and Cain accepted it was time to say goodbye.

Tearfully, he explained the situation to sons Kyle and Isaac (Bobby Dunsmuir).

Meanwhile, across the village, Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) received her own heartbreaking update. Son Noah (Jack Downham) announced that he'd been accepted for a job in Dusseldorf.

To make matters worse, they want him to fly out tomorrow.

Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) chipped in, saying that Charity had been through quite a lot recently and maybe it wasn't the best move to make. She quickly tried to cover, saying that she was totally fine with Noah's decision and that she didn't want him to put a hold on his plans for her sake.

As viewers know, Charity was blackmailed for months by Dr Caitlin Todd (Caroline Harker), who also sexually assaulted her. While Mack knows about the ordeal, Noah has been kept in the dark.

Later, in the caff, she told Nicola King (Nicola Wheeler) that she should be happy for her son - but there was a part of her that didn't want him to leave. She worried that she was being selfish, but Nicola reassured her that it was just part of being a mum.

Charity then headed home to begin packing some things for Noah, though he could see how upset she was and decided not to go after all.

Given actor Downham is leaving the ITV soap, will Noah change his mind again?
