Longtime Chicago restaurant known for southern cuisine announces closure

Wishbone Restaurant, one of Chicago’s longtime comfort food staples, will soon say goodbye.

The popular establishment announced in an Instagram post it will close after 36 years in business, many of those years on Morgan Street in the West Loop.

“There is no easy way to say goodbye to something that has been such a large part of our lives for so long,” co-owners Joel and Julie Nickson said in a statement, in part.

The restaurant, which is now on Jefferson Street, hopes to remain open through the end of August.

A final closing date has not been set.

Chef Joel Nicholson founded Wishbone in 1990, and it quickly built a loyal following for its southern-inspired menu.
