Joanna Gaines has largely kept her children out of the spotlight since ending her beloved HGTV series, Fixer Upper.
However, in honor of the family's first summer in their Colorado mountain home since its dramatic renovation, the mother of five shared a recap of their escape from the city.
"A few days in the mountains with the whole fam, makes this mama's heart so happy. Fishing, chopping down dead trees, making forts for the ?️ , crunchy french toast, rodeo, bikes, and family hikes," Joanna captioned her Sunday, August 2, Instagram video.

In addition to Crew, Duke, Drake, and Emmie, Joanna shares daughter Ella with husband Chip Gaines.
The couple purchased their 1960s cabin in 2024 and renovated the 3,662-square-foot home during 2025's Fixer Upper: Colorado Mountain Home.
"I saw an investment in the future of our family here. You could just tell this house was well loved," the Magnolia Network owner told Architectural Digest in December 2025.
She added, "I'm in this weird season as a mother right now of learning to let go. But what it taught me is, in some ways, design was almost like my therapy of creating an even more saturated, intentional space that feels like home."
Joanna opened up about her love for Colorado and the many vacations they spent in the mountains as a family. The shared time with their children ultimately led the Shark Tank stars to purchase a "home away from home".
"Between yearly ski trips and spring break getaways, we fell in love with the mountains, the rivers, and the abundance of fresh air," Jo shared via Facebook. "As [Chip Gaines] is known to do, he started looking at real estate—casually—until he stumbled upon this house nestled in the Rocky Mountains. From the moment we pulled into the long driveway, it immediately felt like we’d found far more than what we’d been looking for. It had good bones, the right square footage, but mostly, it felt like a home away from home. While we knew that saying 'yes' to a major renovation project outside of Texas (our first!) would require being stretched beyond our comfort zone, we had a feeling taking on this fixer upper would be worth it in the end"
