UFC fighter Allan Nascimento has died at the age of 34, the UFC announced on Monday, Aug. 3.
"This morning, Monday, August 3rd, our beloved flyweight fighter, Allan Nascimento, was found unresponsive after suffering an apparent heart attack in his sleep. Despite the efforts of the responding medical team, he was pronounced deceased at the scene," the statement read. "Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with Allan's family, friends, teammates, and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time."
This comes after he most recently fought on a Fight Night card in Las Vegas on June 20. He had an overall record of 22-7 and 4-2 in the UFC. Nascimento received the nickname "Puro Osso," which translates to 'skin and bones.'
Nascimento trained at Chute Boxe in São Paulo, working alongside Charles Oliveira, who paid tribute to the fighter on Instagram following the announcement by the UFC.
“Today I lost a brother that the fight game gave me,” Oliveira wrote on his Instagram Story, which was translated from Portuguese. “Thank you for always being by my side, for sharing the mats and the corner. I have nothing but gratitude for having you with me — in training, in the corner, and just hanging out. I love you, man; you’re a legend.

"It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our athlete @allanpuroosso," they wrote. "Today our team loses much more than an athlete; we lost a warrior, a friend, a dedicated competitor, and an extraordinary human being who earned the respect and admiration of all who had the privilege of knowing him."
