With August already upon us, the spooky season is right around the corner.
On Monday, August 3, the horror streaming platform known as Shudder announced the ninth installment of V/H/S, a cult-favorite movie franchise that dates back to 2012.
V/H/S/MIXTAPE (2026) promises to "crank the signature found-footage horror up to eleven" with a new anthology film — and this time, music and sound become the source of terror. United by a theme that explores the power of music, rhythm and audio to haunt, possess and destroy, the film blends cosmic horror, psychological suspense, splatter and practical effects into some sort of "mixtape" of nightmares.
V/H/S/MIXTAPE will begin streaming October 9 on Shudder, which took to social media on Monday to unveil the new project.
"The soundtrack to your nightmares is coming," reads the Instagram post's caption. "Press play if you dare. ?"

Well written horror."
MIXTAPE reportedly features segments from veteran filmmaker Ernest Dickerson (Juice, Bones), Grammy-nominated hip-hop icon RZA and acclaimed filmmaker Renee Zhan — whose segment includes original puppets by Jim Henson's Creature Shop. The movie also features original music video interludes directed by Grammy-winning musician Flying Lotus.
