ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A man is charged with attempted murder after a shooting on Rochester’s northwest side on the Fourth of July that left the victim with life-threatening injuries.
Rochester Police say the victim was shot by an ex-boyfriend of a woman who he was friends with. The shooting happened during a large Fourth of July gathering at the corner of Texas and Child streets, near Lyell Avenue.
Rochester Police say they arrived around 11:40 p.m. and found the victim in his 20s with multiple gunshot wounds to his lower body. He was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital and rushed into surgery, after which his medical condition improved to non-life-threatening.
Later, RPD detectives identified the suspected shooter as 23-year-old Elijah Chisolm. U.S. Marshals arrested Chisolm on Friday and took him to the Monroe County Jail. In addition to second-degree attempted murder, he’s charged with assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
