The psychedelic pop-rock song gained traction in the UK, debuting at No. 50 on the UK Singles Chart before eventually climbing to No. 11, marking one of the band’s first major hits.
However, “I Feel Free” had less commercial success in the United States. It only peaked at No. 116 on the Billboard Hot 100 while their album Fresh Cream performed better, climbing to No. 39 on the Billboard 200.
Despite its modest commercial success in the U.S., the 1966 track has continued to influence generations of musicians and remains a favorite among listeners nearly six decades after its release.
On Cream’s official YouTube channel, fans are celebrating the timeless appeal of “I Feel Free,” with many praising the band’s groundbreaking musicianship and calling it a “masterpiece.”
