However, the L.A. version has continued to fan hitters at a poor clip (14.7%), and he has benefited from a minuscule .195 batting average on balls in play.
There will be negative regression for Lauer in the BABIP department, and metrics such as xERA (3.77), SIERA (4.99), FIP (5.13), and xFIP (5.20) all indicate his ERA will increase – perhaps to a significant degree. If the Dodgers are comfortable with their pitching depth, he could end up on the outs Monday. In Lauer, an acquiring team would be adding an impending free agent on a reasonable salary. He is due around $1.3MM through the end of the season.
The Dodgers’ current rotation includes Skubal, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Justin Wrobleski, Emmet Sheehan and Roki Sasaki.
