In a post on social media around 10 a.m., Joliet police warned that “significant water is currently ponding on County Line Road between Walker Road and Clearwater Drive. With additional rainfall forecast throughout the day, this section of roadway could become impassable.”
They advised drivers to use “extreme caution” in the area, “remain alert to changing roadway conditions and consider an alternate route if necessary.”

The National Weather Service said up to three inches of rain fell in the area between roughly 2 p.m. through 7:40 p.m.

A flood warning is in effect in Cook and Will counties in Illinois and Lake County, Indiana, until 11:45 p.m. CT on Saturday and a flood advisory is in effect in the same counties and DuPage County until 1 a.m. CT on Sunday.
“A Flood Warning means flooding is imminent or may already be occurring. Persons along rivers, creeks, and other waterways should take immediate precautions to protect life and property,” NWS said in an alert. “Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.”
