ROCHESTER, N.Y. — More than 450 students in the Rochester City School District took part in a Special Olympics celebration on Thursday.
The event included sports activities, carnival games and a student-led parade. Organizers say today’s celebration is the capstone of a lot of hard work for these student athletes.
“It’s not just a sports event for these kids, it’s an opportunity for them to show what they can do,” said Megan Bonacci. “They’ve been working all summer, not just on academics, but on building their skills in preparation for this.”
