Gamescom 2026: Dates, tickets and what to expect

With E3 now long gone, Gamescom 2026 is here to fill the gap once more, and is set to kick off soon at the Kölnmesse in Cologne, Germany.

Europe’s biggest and best games industry trade show will showcase some of the biggest studios from around the world, all kicked off by Geoff Keighley’s iconic Opening Night Live.

We at Radio Times Gaming will be there all week to check out what’s going down, but until then, here's everything you need to know about Gamescom 2026.

When is Gamescom 2026? Dates confirmed

Gamescom 2026 takes place from 25-29 August 2026.

The show usually takes place at the end of August, and this year is no different, with the show kicking off a few days later than last year’s.

The evening before it begins, Geoff Keighley will take to the stage to deliver his traditional Opening Night Live show, showcasing plenty of trailers, announcements and world premieres.

Gamescom 2026 will take place at the Kölnmesse exhibition hall in Cologne, Germany.

This has been the home of Gamescom right since it first debuted back in 2009.

Since then, the show has grown into perhaps the biggest gaming convention in the world, filling the space left behind by E3.

How to get tickets for Gamescom 2026

Unfortunately, at the time of writing, tickets for Gamescom 2026 are sold out.

It should be noted that there are still tickets for Gamescom Congress, which is a separate event targeted at industry professionals.

So, if you were hoping to get in to play some games, this is definitely not the ticket for you.

What to expect from Gamescom 2026

First things first, let’s deal with the elephant in the room – it’s highly unlikely that GTA 6 will be at ONL.

All the games shown during ONL have a presence at the Gamescom event itself, and with no sign of Rockstar at all, we can clear that from the list – but there’s plenty of other stuff to look forward to!

Just like last year, Xbox will be there with an enormous showing blending console exclusives and third-party hits, including but not limited to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, Gears of War: E-Day, Fable, Stranger than Heaven, Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse, Star Wars Zero Company, Alien: Isolation 2, The Blood of Dawnwalker and more.

Nintendo is also confirmed to be returning to Gamescom, but it hasn’t been confirmed what games will be there just yet.

If we take a look at what Switch 2 games are coming up for the rest of the year, however, we can take a guess that we might see Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, Nintendo Switch Sports Resort, and maybe even The Duskbloods, as well as a few third party titles.

Unfortunately, PlayStation hasn’t confirmed that they will be attending Gamescom this year, so we might be holding out for the next State of Play before we hear more about their upcoming exclusives.

Aside from those, we have the likes of Bandai Namco, Capcom, Ubisoft and Team 17 all confirmed to be appearing, so expect the likes of Onimusha: Way of the Sword and Rayman Legends Retold to appear too.

You’ll be able to watch Opening Night Live on the official Gamescom YouTube channel, where it will take place on 25 August 2026 at 7pm BST for those of you in the UK.
