Natalie Jolley is opening up about why she had to leave Dancing With the Stars: The Next Pro earlier than expected.
The dancer, 20, shared on July 29 that she suffered a concussion and a black eye during rehearsals, forcing her to step away from the competition after the show’s medical team determined she could not continue.
"Being part of @dancingwiththestars The Next Pro has been one of the biggest honors of my life, and although my time on the show ended unexpectedly, I’m walking away with so much gratitude for this opportunity," Jolley wrote in a statement shared with fans.
She explained that she "did everything" she could to remain in the competition, but her injuries ultimately made it impossible.
Despite the difficult exit, Jolley said the experience was one she will always remember. Dancing With the Stars: The Next Pro marked her first time dancing on commercial television, and she admitted she was initially intimidated by the opportunity.
"As the days went on,” she wrote, “I found my confidence."
Jolley said the experience taught her the importance of stepping outside her comfort zone and embracing challenges, even when the outcome is unexpected.
She also shared gratitude for the people she met during her time on the show, saying she left with new friendships and memories she will carry forward.
"I truly believe everything happens for a reason, even when it’s hard to understand in the moment," Jolley wrote.
"I’m choosing to trust the process, keep moving forward, and believe that what’s meant for me will always find me."
While her journey on the competition has ended, Jolley said she plans to continue learning, growing and returning stronger from the setback.
