ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The low pressure system spinning to our east that caused all the rain Tuesday and yesterday will slowly pass off over the Atlantic Ocean, with our skies gradually clearing through today. Skies will remain cloudy for the morning but we should see some nice clearing by the middle of this afternoon, although daytime heating and additional moisture spinning out of the system may help to spark up some showers east of the Genesee River. Highs will be in the mid 70s and dew points will stay in the low 60s, so it’ll still be humid out. But overall a far superior day than yesterday.
Friday will be an excellent end to the workweek. High pressure will have replaced low pressure, which will keep our skies sunny until the evening and our weather rain-free all day. Highs will be near 80 and dew points will be near 60, so a little less humid. Clouds will increase in the evening and stick around overnight and Saturday.
Saturday should stay cloudy and mainly dry but we are tracking the possibility and timing of some rain later in the day and overnight. Still some uncertainty with that, so check back in for updates.
What is MUCH more likely is lots of rain and possible thunder on Sunday. Signs for impactful weather for most of the day have been pretty consistent. The main impact would be heavy rain, with current trends pointing towards 1-3″ of rain with the most being east of the Genesee River. There is a risk of scattered flash flooding in that area; isolated flash flooding elsewhere. We will wait a little longer before possibly issuing a Yellow Alert in the event of any drastic changes in the forecast, but know that Saturday will be the clear pick of the weekend.
Dry weather should return by later Monday through Tuesday, and temperatures overall look to be running a little above average over the next 6-10 days.
