Kev Barton (Chris Coghill) has found himself in yet another physical fight in Emmerdale.

It comes just 24 hours after he accidentally knocked son Lewis Barton (Bradley Riches) in the face during his birthday party.

Lewis was presented with a thoughtful birthday cake from Kev, that had been crafted to match his favourite jumper. It was a wonderful moment to see the two's relationship beginning to blossom after years of estrangement, but matters were about to turn seriously sour.

Enter Steve (Jason Done), an old mate of Kev's from Manchester who has made it clear that he has grand ambitions to break into manor house Home Farm and steal whatever he can get his hands on.

Kev was forced to leave Lewis's party to stop him, though was unaware that Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson) had spotted him getting into Steve's car - armed with a crow bar. A tense conversation ensued where Kev made him promise not to cause any trouble on his doorstep.

When he returned to the bash, everyone in attendance wanted to know where Kev had got to. They immediately assumed that he'd returned to a life of crime, and when trying to pick a fight with Ross Barton (Michael Parr), Kev injured Lewis instead.

In today's episode, despite everything that had happened yesterday, Lewis was prepared to give Kev another chance. Vinny grimaced at the thought of him playing a part in their lives, and was clearly thinking up a plan to try and show Kev's true colours.

Lewis urged his dad to try and connect with his boyfriend, and so he headed to Dale View to have a conversation.

Vinny freaked out at the thought of being left alone with Kev and went to tackle him. In retaliation, Kev defended himself and wrapped his arm around his neck. This was terrible timing, as Lewis arrived home and assumed that something far more sinister was happening.

Although there was plenty of opportunity to tell the truth about what had happened, Vinny stayed silent in a bid to demonise his new enemy.

Later, he confessed to mum Mandy Dingle (Lisa Riley) that he wasn't going to speak up. She warned him that it wasn't his place to decide who Lewis spent his time with - but he didn't seem to care.
