It was so quiet in the room during the President’s remarks.”
Even though Collins was surprised at the silence, she wasn’t surprised about Trump’s digs, telling Stewart, “I think I was not surprised when he insulted me. That happens pretty regularly inside the Oval Office. This is just a bigger venue where it was happening.”

Collins isn’t fighting back. And no, she isn’t scared.
So why isn’t she snapping back with witty quips about the President? After all, as Kaitlan said to Stewart, “I’ve covered Trump for 10 years. So I’ve listened to pretty much all of his speeches for 10 years, with very little exception.” With that amount of coverage, she’s sure to have some gems that would make the perfect clap-back. But Kaitlan does have a pretty amazing explanation.
“I've always felt this, regardless of who’s the president, whether it’s Joe Biden, Donald Trump, those are the two I've covered. It’s really not about me,” Collins said. She continued, “And I don’t want it to be about my reaction. And so, I think if you let it become about that, then it becomes a back-and-forth between the two of us.”
