ROCHESTER, N.Y. – A Yellow Alert is posted overnight Monday and into Tuesday night for the potential of locally heavy rain and some flash flooding. An area of low pressure will move in on Tuesday, and stall just to the east of us. This will keep our weather unsettled and wet at times Tuesday and Wednesday. While it’ll be far from a washout on Tuesday, we’ll likely be dealing with several rounds of showers and some storms. Any storm that develops will tend to move slowly and deliver some downpours. There is also the lower risk of a stronger storm with some gusty winds on Tuesday.
That combination may lead to some pockets of heavy rain and localized flooding or flash flooding. This low will remain to our east on Wednesday, continuing to funnel in more moisture with some locally heavy rain. This will exacerbate the rain that falls on Tuesday. At this point, our Yellow Alert is posted for Tuesday, but may need to be expanded into Wednesday. Total rainfall may range from about a half into up to a few inches of rain by the time the low moves out Thursday morning. There will likely be some tweaks to the forecast as new data comes in and the low approaches, so check back with News10NBC.
Some showers stick around into Thursday morning before clearing for drier weather Thursday afternoon, Friday and into most of the weekend.
