Kyle Shanahan, the San Francisco 49ers head coach, was injured in a crash and will have limited participation at the start of the team's training camp, the organization said Saturday.
Palo Alto police said the crash happened July 14, around 6:15 p.m., near Alma Street and Hamilton Avenue. It was a two-car crash, and one of the drivers was taken to the hospital.
According to the 49ers organization, Shanahan had injuries that were not life-threatening.
"Coach Shanahan will participate in team activities on a limited basis at the start of training camp while he recovers," the team said.
His team responsibilities will be carried out by assistant head coach Chris Foerster and team coordinators, the 49ers said.
"Coach Shanahan and the 49ers organization would like to sincerely thank all first responders involved for their efforts and care," the organization said.
