The Walking Dead: Dead City follows fan-favorite characters Maggie and Negan as they navigate Manhattan, which is overrun by walkers. The spinoff series, which stars Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan, is entering its third season. During San Diego Comic-Con on July 24, a Dead City panel revealed that an iconic character from the original series will be appearing in the show soon.
Emily Kinney, who played Maggie’s sister Beth Greene, will be in one of the episodes, which is set in an alternate reality. “I’m Lauren, and I think you know this person,” Cohan said in the teaser video that AMC released to fans this week.

“Hi, I’m Emily Kinney,” the actress said. “Really, so excited to be working with Lauren again.”
Cohan added, “We’re really glad that Emily wanted to come back and do this.”
Kinney continued, “I had no idea I’d get a chance to play Beth again. I’m so happy to be here.”
Then Cohan warned fans to have their “tissues ready” for an emotional episode.
Fans are already excited about the return of Kinney’s character. As one person on YouTube said, “Feels like a fever dream. So emotional to see Beth again after 12 years.” Another said, “She was a very underrated character. I’m so happy she’s back.”

In 2014, Kinney told Entertainment Weekly that she hadn’t watched the episode where her character was shot by officer Dawn Lerner after Beth attacked her with a pair of scissors. “I actually have not watched the episode,” she admitted. “I haven’t sat down and watched it. I feel it’s sort of out of my hands at a certain point, and I’m very proud of the work I’ve done with The Walking Dead. I don’t feel like it would be fun to watch myself. It feels a little painful.”
Kinney, who is 40, has also appeared on shows like The Flash, Arrow, and Masters of Sex. She is also a singer and songwriter.
