ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Welcome to the weekend! Today will be for the most part a very fine Saturday, especially in the morning. But this afternoon there may be some light, spotty, small showers coming up from the southwest, with the best chance for precipitation in the Southern Tier. These will likely fizzle out around or a little before sunset. Otherwise, skies will be turning partly cloudy with highs in the mid 80s and humidity staying comfortable. Overnight skies will be mostly cloudy with lows in the low to upper 60s.
Sunday has better chances for showers perhaps with a rumble of thunder in the afternoon as high pressure fully pushes off to the east. Highs will similarly be in the mid 80s, but it will be a bit more humid. This will fuel isolated shower and thunder chances first along lake breeze circulations in the afternoon then down closer to the Southern Tier in the evening. Chances for severe weather are very low, and the day will still be mainly dry overall, so we stay Green on the Threat Tracker.
Monday through Wednesday we will be dealing with a low pressure system that will bring multiple chances for rain and thunder, with Tuesday seeing potentially heavy rainfall totals. Check back in for updates on the rainfall forecast in case flooding becomes a concern. Cooler air comes behind the system for Wednesday then temps slowly climb to seasonable levels by the end of next week.
Stay tuned for updates on the forecast.
