The Commonwealth Games 2026 are officially underway in Glasgow – and they've already delivered plenty of memorable moments.

From Scotland claiming gold, silver and bronze in a remarkable 45-minute spell in the pool to England powerlifter Mark Swan taking home gold after lifting an astonishing 222kg – more than three times his own bodyweight – there's been plenty to celebrate in the opening days of the Games. And with the competition only just getting started, there's still much more to come.

Olympic champion Adam Peaty faces rising star Filip Nowacki, 18, in Saturday night's (25 July) 100m breaststroke final.

Elsewhere, the netball competition gets underway as hosts Scotland take on New Zealand, while England begin the defence of their gymnastics title.

However, the 10-day sporting event hasn't been without its difficult moments, with 19-year-old England gymnast Gabriel Langton suffering a heavy fall after toppling from the high bar and being stretchered out of the arena.

In a statement, Team England said: "We are grateful to the medical teams who responded immediately to provide assistance.

"He has been taken to hospital and we will share more information when it is available."

Despite the difficult circumstances, Team England recovered to claim the silver medal.

"When something like that happens, you've just got to forget about it and reset. I just had to focus on my routine one skill at a time," said teammate Luke Whitehouse.

"From what we've heard, he's doing OK. Gymnastics is such a dangerous sport and things like this remind us of that. It's one of those things you have to put out of your mind."

This year's Games are hosting around 3,000 athletes from 74 Commonwealth Games Associations, who will compete across 215 events in 10 sports for 1,168 medals.

UK viewers will be used to tuning in every four years on the BBC but Glasgow 2026 marks the first time in 72 years that the public service broadcaster, which was outbid by TNT Sports, does not have TV coverage.

TNT Sports is the new home of the Commonwealth Games, which starts with the opening ceremony on Thursday 23 July and runs until Sunday 2 August.

More than 600 hours of events at Glasgow 2026 are set to be broadcast live across TNT Sports channels and streamed on HBO Max.

TNT Sports 2, the Commonwealth Games 360 channel, will be live from 8:30am to 10:30pm every day and jump between all the big moments from the different events.

Individual events will have dedicated live coverage on TNT Sports 3, TNT Sports 4 and on live streams via HBO Max.

Fans can tune in to watch every moment of this summer's Commonwealth Games live on all HBO Max subscription plans, starting from £4.99 per month.

Free-to-air coverage options are fairly limited for this summer's Commonwealth Games but you can keep up with all the big moments from Glasgow 2026 with the 5 highlights show.

The daily highlights show, which begins at 10:30pm on Friday 24 July and is hosted by former Olympic sprinter Jeanette Kwakye, will be on 5, streaming and the 5 Sport YouTube.

Live coverage and highlights will also be available on Gaelic language broadcaster BBC Alba and on BBC iPlayer every night.

Welsh language broadcaster S4C has struck a similar deal to show live coverage of Glasgow 2026, which will be available on S4C, S4C Clic, and BBC iPlayer.
