ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Rochester City School District highlighted its summer learning programs, including the Read Alliance initiative for young students.
The district said the Read Alliance program, supported by city funding, paired trained teen mentors with students in grades one through three. The program focused on early literacy, with sessions at schools Number 7 and 9.
The initiative includes 40 trained teen mentors to be hired as reading “buddies.”
