Jack White's tour keeps delivering surprises and this one came with some serious rock pedigree.
During his latest stop in Chicago, White brought out Black Crowes frontman Chris Robinson for an unexpected collaboration. Rather than playing a hit from either of their catalogs, the two opted for something far less predictable: a cover of "I'm a Mover," cover of "I'm a Mover," a deep cut from Free, the British blues rock band best known for their 1970 hit "All Right Now" and for launching the career of guitarist Paul Kossoff. The performance, captured in a video White shared himself, saw the guitarist step back from his usual dual role as singer and guitarist, instead shredding freely while Robinson took over on vocals.
The (not so) surprise collaboration also highlighted White's deep appreciation for blues music. Later in the set, he paid tribute to blues legend Robert Johnson with a performance of "Phonograph Blues," continuing a night packed with nods to the artists who helped shape rock music.
View this post on InstagramThe Chicago surprise follows another recent family moment on tour (*during a sold-out Brooklyn show, White brought out his daughter, Scarlett, who joined him on bass for a rendition of the White Stripes' 1999 track "Cannon.")
White kicked off his 2026 tour on July 10, the same day he released his eighth solo album, Frozen Charlotte, his fourth LP in as many years. The tour, which runs through the fall and requires fans to go phone-free at shows, has been packed with deep cuts from both his solo work and the White Stripes catalog. White will head to Europe for additional tour dates in August. If Chicago was any indication, fans are probably taking bets on who's going to walk onstage or which classic song White might decide to resurrect next.
