ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The University of Rochester Medicine Clinical and Translational Science Institute is getting more than $29 million in new grants from the National Institutes of Health.
The funding will support translational science and research aimed at improving human health outcomes. This year marks 20 years and more than $150 million in federal support awarded to the institute.
Officials say it’s the university’s people that make their continued success possible.
“Having the time to make an impact and improve the health of our community is critical,” said University of Rochester President Sarah Mangelsdorf. “And that impact is easier to make when you have exceptional faculty and staff and supportive leadership.”
“We’re working through a time when to earn recognition and funding from NIH and other agencies means we have truly stood out for our record for achievement and our potential for the future,” she said.
University officials call the grant a vote of confidence in Rochester’s research community and its ability to improve lives through medical innovation.
