Popular Supplement Recalled Due to Bacteria Causing Nausea and Bloody Diarrhea

Your morning supplement could make you sick.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced that Moringa Leaf Powder Capsules by Zen Principle are being recalled due to a potential risk of contamination with Salmonella.

The FDA asks customers who purchased the pills “to stop using the product and dispose of it. Consumers do not need to return the product to receive a full refund.”

Zen Principle Naturals, which also does business as Relay Peak Research LLC, voluntarily recalled the product due to the risk of Salmonella.

Salmonella is a bacterial disease that causes issues with the intestinal tract, according to the Mayo Clinic. Humans are typically infected by the bacteria after ingesting contaminated water or food. Common symptoms include fever, diarrhea (which is sometimes bloody), nausea, vomiting, headache, chills, and abdominal pain.

Those infected usually show signs of the illness within 8 to 72 hours after exposure. Healthy people generally feel better after several days to a week on their own.

In rare cases, Salmonella can reach the bloodstream and cause severe illnesses, including arterial infections, endocarditis, and arthritis.

The supplement included 180 capsules packaged in a plastic bottle. The Moringa Leaf Powder Capsules were distributed across the U.S. from December 2025 through July 2026. The majority of sales were online orders, with Amazon and the company’s website being the primary vendors.

The lot number (Lot A6FF4) and Best By date (11/2028) are shown on the bottom of the bottle. The supplement was offered as both a 1-pack (180 capsules; Amazon code/FNSKU X000ZJJ4FT) and a 2-pack (twin pack, 360 capsules; Amazon code/FNSKU X00159YJXP).

No other products are at risk.
