BRIGHTON, N.Y. — Brighton police and state officials are showcasing new law enforcement technology aimed at improving public safety.
Brighton Police Chief Dave Catholdi was joined by state law enforcement leaders to highlight New York’s investments in new technology. The demonstration included virtual reality training systems, thermal imaging cameras, a 3D laser crime scene scanner, and other advanced tools now being used in Brighton.
Catholdi said these new high-tech tools give officers a new way to receive invaluable training in real world scenarios.
“I’m going on quite a few years, and to see this virtual reality system from what I started with, we can take this virtual reality system and we can actually put officers out in scenario based training, which is very important for them, to not only see, but they can have the audio go along with it and it’s almost like you’re right there,” Catholdi said.
Police say while technology continues to evolve, the goal remains the same — giving officers better tools to keep the community safe.
