“Of course I got a spray tan,” he said. “I shouldn’t be admitting this but, I’m telling you, when I was 17 and we used to — it was all about how big our muscles are. I was 40 pounds heavier. It was all about muscles and being tan and making sure you have no chest hair," he said.
Unknown to the actor, he had been hanging out among friends who knew the Jersey Shore star. By the time he started working on The Vampire Diaries and the MTV series blew up, Wesley learned of the surprise connection.
“I remember I was in my 20s and I was doing something for The Vampire Diaries. Somehow, they’re like, ‘The cast of the Jersey Shore is here,'" he explained. "The guy who plays The Situation. ... That guy, he comes up to me, and he’s like, ‘Hey Paul.’ I was like, ‘Hey.’ He’s like, ‘We used to hang out in the Jersey Shore.’”
Wesley would later confirm through friends that he and Mike 'The Situation' had a core group of people in common that they would hang out with. Without Wesley having ever realized it, the actor says he may as well have crossed paths with Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi. He admits that before becoming the teen vampire heartthrob, he was a "part of the Jersey Shore. Fist-bumping," and got "into fist fights all the time" with his friends.
