On social media, they shared a statement: "With a very heavy heart, we announce that our beloved bandmate, friend, and fellow troublemaker Jennifer Finch has passed away today. She had a long, courageous fight with brain cancer and was loved by many wonderful friends, musical peers, and fans worldwide."

Jennifer was a true original who lived entirely on her own terms, and the impact she made on music, art, and everyone lucky enough to know her cannot be measured. We love her beyond words and will carry her with us always."
The statement signed off, "Rest in power, our dear friend. With love, L7."
Earlier this month, Finch bowed out of the band’s final tour, The Last Hurrah, revealing her battle with brain cancer. Finch insisted the band continue without her, so Tsuzumi Okai, previously the touring bassist for Limp Bizkit, stepped in.
"We will honor her request while making her care and well-being our immediate priority," the band shared, adding, "We love her, and we want her to feel the full strength of the community that has loved and supported her for so many years."
On July 13, a GoFundMe campaign raised more than $375,000 to be put toward a variety of care services, as well as a “creative project” due in 2027, Blabbermouth reported. Those who donated to the fund include Bad Religion, Epitaph Records founder Brett Gurewitz, Garbage, Bikini Kill singer Kathleen Hanna, and Pearl Jam bassist Jeff Ament.
Formed in Los Angeles in 1985, L7 really hit their stride in the early ’90s, with the foursome becoming a staple of the grunge and alternative rock scenes. The band’s definitive masterpiece is widely considered to be “Pretend We're Dead,” released in 1992 on their breakthrough album, Bricks Are Heavy.
The track peaked in the Top 10 on the Billboard Modern Rock chart and perfectly encapsulates the crushing guitars and sarcastic, grunge-era attitude that made the band famous.
“Seeing longtime supporters rocking out next to a new generation of L7 fans has been the most powerful and humbling part of this chapter," Donita Sparks said in a statement per Billboard about the band’s forthcoming tour. “We are deeply grateful and ready to give our audiences one last, loud, fun and hopefully unforgettable night of rock and roll."
The Last Hurrah kicks off in the U.S. this October. Tour details and ticket information are available atl7theband.com.
