The easiest crockpot buffalo chicken with a homemade buffalo sauce, perfect for busy weekdays and even better as leftovers.
I love a meal that’s simple, yet so flavorful. The homemade buffalo sauce adds the perfect amount of heat and flavor with just a few simple ingredients, making it a great alternative to bottled sauce that’s often full of necessary ingredients. This is one of those meals you can throw together in the morning before work and come home to dinner that’s ready to go. It’s incredibly versatile, makes great leftovers, and can easily be doubled or even tripled depending on how many people you’re feeding.
Ingredients
(Serves 2-4)
2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts ½ cup your choice of hot sauce (I love Franks) ¼ cup butter ½ teaspoon garlic powder (optional) Salt and pepper, to tasteFeeding a crowd? Simply double or triple the recipe! Just keep the same ratio of hot sauce to butter.
Let’s Cook!
In a small saucepan over medium-low heat, melt the butter. Stir in the hot sauce (and garlic powder if using) until combined. This homemade buffalo sauce is incredibly simple but adds so much flavor. Place the chicken breasts in your crockpot and pour the buffalo sauce over the top. Cook on Low for 6-7 hours or High for 3-4 hours, until the chicken is tender and easily pulls apart. Remove the chicken and shred it using two forks, then return it to the crockpot and mix it into the sauce so every bite is coated. Serve however you like and enjoy!I love piling the buffalo chicken onto a toasted bun with ranch (shoutout to the Aldi ranch made with olive oil, it’s my favorite!) My family also loves adding blue cheese crumbles on top for the classic buffalo flavor.
