A person has died after they went missing while swimming in Chicago’s northern suburbs on Monday night.
According to the Fox Lake Fire Protection District, a group of friends was out boating at Myers Bay on Pistakee Lake, which is located in the Chain O’ Lakes, when they decided to go swimming on Monday afternoon.
While they were swimming, one of the individuals sank beneath the water, with the friends trying to search for them in the lake, according to authorities.
A large rescue response was called to Myers Bay, and after a search of approximately two hours, the missing swimmer was found and pronounced dead at the scene, according to authorities.
There was no further information on the age or identity of the victim, and an investigation remains underway.
