Prime Video has officially given us our first look at its new TV adaptation of Carrie, as Summer Howell takes on the role of the telekinetic teen.
The shots of Mike Flanagan's reinvention of the story appear to give us our first glimpse of Carrie's powers, as she wanders down a street and sees a line of mailboxes flip open – seemingly of their own accord just as she walks past.
Another picture shows Carrie turning her attention to a mannequin with pins stuck into it, while we also get our first look at Siena Agudong as popular student Sue Snell, and Joel Oulette as Tommy Ross, her boyfriend.
Also shown in the snaps are Thalia Dudek as new character Emaline and Alison Thornton as Chris Hargensen (who appears to be mid confrontation with Carrie).
Samantha Sloyan is seen as the religious Margaret White, Carrie's mother, while we also have a shot of Amber Midthunder as Rita Desjardin, Carrie's gym teacher.
The book tells the story of a young girl who is bullied at school and mistreated by her mother, eventually harnessing telekinetic abilities to wreak havoc on her oppressors.
View Gallery on the source websiteThe novel has been adapted several times before, including a critically acclaimed version in 1976 which earned Sissy Spacek an Academy Award nomination for her performance in the title role. Meanwhile, Chloe Grace Moretz starred in the 2013 remake.
However, this is the first time the story is being brought to television, with showrunner and horror icon Flanagan being best known for beloved series including The Haunting of Hill House, The Haunting of Bly Manor and Midnight Mass. He's also set to direct four episodes and serves as an executive producer.
Carrie will arrive on Prime Video in October.
