Sarah Platt (Tina O'Brien) has confessed to killing Theo Silverton (James Cartwright) in Coronation Street.
There's one big problem, though: the person she admitted it to is her police officer boyfriend Kit Green (Jacob Roberts).
Last month, a flashback took us to the night of Theo's death. Sarah had left Carla and Lisa Connor-Swain's (Alison King and Vicky Myers) wedding, concerned about best pal Todd Grimshaw's (Gareth Pierce) wellbeing.
She arrived at the corner shop flat, began calling his phone, and wondered why it was ringing from outside.
Climbing out onto the scaffolding, Sarah was spooked to find Theo. He implied that he'd done something to Todd, and branded her a "whore" for having two children by two different fathers.
He then remembered that she'd once had a child with Todd, who was born prematurely and died in 2004. Theo outright claimed that Sarah was still hoping to reconnect with his husband, and that her behaviour was pathetic.
He lunged towards her, and fearing for her life, she grabbed a piece of scaffolding in self-defence. She then whacked him across the head, which sent him flying down to the pavement below.
She summoned ex-boyfriend Gary Windass (Mikey North), and in a bid to protect her, he ordered her off to the Platt residence to get an alibi. Of course – as we know – when she got to No. 8, Jodie Ramsey (Olivia Frances Brown) whacked her around the head with an ornament.
Sarah has since told Todd the truth, and he has since ended their friendship.
In today's episode, Kit called round at Lisa's house to ask whether there'd been any update in the case. She assured him that she was handling things, and that he should focus on his relationship with Sarah instead.
She was slowly growing increasingly more troubled by the fact Gary was the police's chief suspect. He assured her that they must stay quiet to avoid any suspicion, as if she was to come clean, she could be sent down for murder and he could be behind bars for perverting the course of justice and harbouring an offender.
When Sarah returned home to the Redbank Apartments, she was shocked to see that Kit had prepared a romantic dinner. This wasn't just any old lunchtime date, but an opportunity for him to propose.
It's safe to say that Sarah was stunned. She suddenly was overcome by a wave of guilt, and said she simply couldn't accept given how much she was keeping from him. Kit pressed for more information, but got more than he bargained for.
The two then tried to process the huge revelation, with Kit unhappy that she chose to go to Gary in her hour of need instead of him. Sarah pleaded for him to realise that she was actually trying not to put him in a sticky situation at work.
Picking up the engagement ring and his keys from the side, Kit stormed out.
