CARPINTERIA, Calif. (KEYT) July 10th marked the one year anniversary of the Glass House Farms ICE raids.
People marched four miles to the cannabis growers greenhouses in Carpinteria on Saturday.
Activists and concerned citizens said they didn't want the anniversary of the raids in Carpinteria and Camarillo to go unnoticed.
During the Camarillo raid farmworker Jaime Alanis Garcia, 57, fatally fell from a greenhouse roof.
ICE detained more than 360 people including a US veteran.
The Executive Director of 805Undocufund called the raids "Horrible."
Primative Hernandez said she wants the people impacted to know they are not alone.
"We are here today to stand strong in solidarity with each other and with all you out there who couldn't make it out and who are in a place to be here with us to come out and get activated, It is gonna to take all of us to make sure that we send a very strong message that we stand united as people," said Hernandez.
Congressman Salud Carbajal joined them, too.
"What made me come out to be in solidarity with the community to memorializze the tragic terror event that ICE brought upon our community a year ago, " said Carbajal, a disproportionate show of force masked militarized individuals form ice came here to in many cases violate the right of immigrants and some Americans citizens"
One of the speakers, midday through the march, urged Carbajal to help DACA students.
A number of speakers including Anthony Rodriguez invited others to get involved.
He is worried the children impacted will have PTSD.
"Our children are our future, so why aren't we allowing them to have that, so I am asking all you who have not stepped up step up do something because that is the only way we are going to make this right," said Rodriquez.
Glass House could not be reached to comment in time for this report, but a medicinal portion of the company is now publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange.
It's the first in California to do so.
Participants in the four mile, round trip march, intend to make it an annual event.
