A gorgeous weekend is on tap with an extended stretch of dry weather, pleasant conditions and highs in the mid-80s.
The day began on a comfortable note despite cloud cover, with temperatures in the mid-to-upper 60s, slightly muggy conditions and dew points around 60 degrees. NBC 5 Storm Team Meteorologist Pete Sack explained dew point values are actually expected to drop as temperatures climb throughout the day.
Clouds will thin out through the morning, giving way to bright sunshine and a few high, thin clouds through the afternoon. Temperatures will eventually top out in the low-to-mid 80s, with readings a couple degrees cooler near the lakefront.
When the evening rolls around, expect many people to be out and about, with no rain in the forecast and no need to grab a sweatshirt.
Comfortable conditions will continue overnight and Sunday morning, as temperatures eventually drop into the upper 60s in the city and the low 60s away from the lake.
While Saturday began with clouds, that likely won’t be the case on Sunday.
Expect beautiful blue skies, sunshine and refreshing breezes blowing in off of the lake, Sack said.
Highs will reach the mid-to-upper 80s under mostly sunny skies. As you wrap up your weekend plans, we’re going to be looking at temperatures running just a few degrees cooler away from the lakefront.
On Monday, the workweek will start with some sunshine and pretty comfortable temperatures. High temperatures will reach the low 90s, but the heat index value may be a degree or two above the actual air temperature. However, Sack said it won’t be terribly humid.
Tuesday will bring a little bit more in the way of humidity as highs sit in the low-to-mid 90s.
Heat index values are expected to reach the upper 90s on Wednesday, but humidity levels should remain modest. By Thursday, the temperature will drop a couple of degrees. Then, on Friday, a chance for storms returns as temperatures top out in the upper 80s.
