Excitement for Sky's supernatural thriller Possession continues to mount, especially after the release of the show's intriguing teaser trailer. Formerly known as Inheritance, the drama was created and written by Misfits and Toxic Town actress Karla Crome, with the five-parter being based on an original story by Jefferson Bannis and directed by Storm Saulter (Sprinter).
Set between Bristol and Jamaica, the series follows Claudia (Gugu Mbatha-Raw), "an ambitious young bi-racial lawyer" who travels to Jamaica to challenge an inheritance claim made by a local man, Cudjoe East (Sheldon Shepherd) against wealthy white aristocrat Oliver Connaught (Jonny Lee Miller). But things grow even more unsettling when Claudia finds that the Connaught family’s former plantation, Hope Hill, is at the centre of the case – and it just so happens to be the very place that has haunted her very own nightmares.
Described as "an ambitious genre-bending series that boldly confronts the enduring legacy of colonialism, marrying shadowy intrigue with the pulsating energy of the Caribbean", it's safe to say that we're counting down the days until this series lands on our screens.

The broadcaster's teaser announcement, published on 23 June 2026, describes the drama as an "ambitious five-part limited event series" that "launches on Sky and NOW later this year", without naming a day or month.
Sky's official programme page similarly lists the series as "coming to Sky and NOW in 2026" and "coming later this year exclusively to Sky and streaming NOW". We will update this page once Sky announces a release date.

What will happen in Possession?
Possession is billed as a gripping supernatural thriller following "one woman's journey into long-buried secrets, identity and the past's enduring hold on the present."
Young lawyer Claudia arrives in Jamaica to contest the inheritance claim over Hope Hill, but it soon draws her into the haunted history of the Connaught family's former plantation, a place that has somehow stalked her nightmares.
The synopsis continues: "As Claudia and Oliver dig deeper, they uncover a disturbing link between the plantation's brutal past and injustices still shaping the present."
Speaking about the project, creator Karla Crome has said: "I feel humbled to be working with such a brilliant team both here and in Jamaica. It is a privilege to see Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Jonny Lee Miller, Sheldon Shepherd and Bel Powley bringing my characters to life under Storm Saulter’s evocative direction and I can’t wait to share our work with audiences."
