The rest of the soundtrack will feature new music from the fictional band Analog Dogs, showcased in the film, as well as music from Ultra Q, Paradox, and Mckenna Grace, all of whom are either featured or star in the film.

Nimrods, the soundtrack, will arrive on July 31 in various formats: CD, cassette, digital, and vinyl. Preorder for all formats is now available.

Nimrods, the film, is targeting a nationwide Aug. 14 theater release, with special global previews on Aug. 11.

The film was originally titled New Year’s Rev and made its world premiere last fall at the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival. According to assorted publications, fans and critics alike liked what they saw, calling the watch “nostalgic,” “chaotic,” and a “tender tribute to teenage dirtbags.”

Directed by Lee Kirk (Ordinary World, The Office), the road-trip comedy follows the hijinks of the Analog Dogs, who are racing across the country to open for Green Day on New Year’s Eve, completely unaware that the whole gig is one big, fat joke.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film is based on the life and times of Green Day, when Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, and Tré Cool lived out of a van before their debut album, Dookie, broke through in 1994, winning a GrammyAward, becoming double-diamond certified, and cementing the punk rockers as a massive force in rock history.

The members of Green Day make a cameo in the movie, which stars MckennaGrace (Ghostbusters: Afterlife), Mason Thames (The Black Phone), and the legendary Fred Armisen.

“I’ve always wanted to do a Green Day film,” Armstrong told THR. “God, ever since the beginning, just all my heroes have always done films, whether it was Rock ‘n’ Roll High School by the Ramones or A Hard Day’s Night, the Who’s Quadrophenia. I wanted to just do the same thing.”

    Let the needle drops commence.
