Man convicted of gang assault related to 2007 death released from prison

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A man convicted 17 years ago in connection to the death of a woman in 2007 has been released from prison.

Terrance Mack was convicted of gang assault in 2009. According to the Monroe County District’s Attorney Office, on Sept. 29, 2007, Latasha Shaw was chased by Mack and a group of 20-30 people, then stabbed and beaten to death. It happened on Driving Park and Dewey Avenues in Rochester.

    The DA’s Office says Mack submitted an application to the Conviction Integrity Unit. The unit then did a thorough investigation, and Mack’s conviction was vacated on Monday, the DA’s Office says.

    Mack has since been released from prison. He was serving a 25 year sentence.

    In 2008, Ebony Mack was arrested for killing Shaw, but was acquitted.
